Srinagar | Mar 25 (PTK): After hectic deliberations the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has finally continued with the alliance that was stitched by her later father Mufti Muhammad Sayed.

With Mehbooba all set to take over as the first woman chief minister of trouble torn state of J&K, a general question is being discussed by the common people along roadsides, shop fronts and even in offices. Why development is possible only with BJP?

While PDP knows sharing power with BJP proved disastrous for the party as the results about the same were visible at Mufti’s funeral prayers at his home town Bijbehara where a few odd thousands heads turned up to bid adieu to their leader.

After Mufti’s demise, the party was at cross roads for over two months whether to re-stitch the alliance or just say goodbye to BJP.

Mehbooba showed rigidity for a long time and put forth some conditions and demanded fulfillment of CBMs, but that didn’t fetch anything to PDP. It is just a matter of few odd months, which will prove Mehbooba either right or wrong.

Political pundits are pessimistic about Mehbooba’s success as CM with BJP as coalition partner. They say the hardened stance of Mehbooba Mufti to test the waters has finally failed.

After the devastating floods in September 2014 people voted PDP to the power but with a fractured mandate. PDP was successful to market this “fractured mandate” as the only reason to join hands with BJP.

In this race of development which the PDP is again vying has lost its “battle of ideas”.

If development in J&K is possible only with BJP, then PDP is be-fooling people and is totally wrong as there is development also and at fast pace in the non-BJP ruled states like Delhi, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, UP and many other states.

If one goes by the laws of the book, no power can stop funds from GoI to J&K, until the state is the part of Indian union. There is a proper budget allocation for all the states and J&K is no exception, no matter which party rules in the center.

National Conference leader, Nasir Aslam Wani says it is very much visible on the ground how much development and extra mile efforts PDP has taken in the past months. “I fail to understand what PDP is doing. They are actually marketing this coalition drama,” he said. (PTK)
