Handwara | Mar 24 (PTK): Residents of Magam village near Handwara town Thursday protested against power department demanding that the village, barely 10 Kms from the town.
The protesters blocked the Handwara-Baramulla road for hours, for the second time in past ten days and raised slogans against power department. They threatened to intensify protests if their ‘genuine’ demand was not met with at the earliest.
“We are paying power fee on time but the department has miserably failed to streamline the supply. The power division Handwara is delaying the necessary process of improving the supply,” said Basheer Ahmed Mir, a local.
Officials of power division Handwara rushed to the spot and assured the protesters that their demand would be looked into. (PTK)
