Srinagar, March 23, : All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday said they are not against any country and wish both India and Pakistan resolve Kashmir problem through dialogue. Mirwaiz said he hopes that India and Pakistan would evolve ways and means to include the people of Kashmir in the composite dialogue between the two countries.
“We expect the Union government to carry forward the spirit of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s vision that called for settling dispute within the parameters of humanity,” MIrwaiz told reporters before leaving for New Delhi to attend Pakistan Day function at Pakistan Embassy.
“We have always welcomed the dialogue process between India and Pakistan. We hope the two counties would evolve the ways and means to include the people of Kashmir in the composite dialogue process.
We believe the vision of Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be carried forward in which he said issues should be settled within the parameters of ‘Insaniyat’ (Humanity) which is much greater than the parameters set by the constitution,” he said.
Mirwaiz dismissed opposition to the separatist leaders’ attendance at the Pakistan Day functions in New Delhi.
“It is like creating a storm in the tea cup. We have always been attending these functions at the invitation of Pakistan High Commission. We go there to put forth our viewpoint and not to oppose anybody,” Mirwaiz added.
Meanwhile, a handout issued by All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) stated that Chairman, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Wednesday left for New Delhi on the invitation of the Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit Ali where he is scheduled to participate in the Pakistan day function on Wednesday along with a high level delegation of APHC leadership.
The Mirwaiz and other leaders would be holding detailed discussion with the Pakistan diplomats on the ongoing political situation and resistance movement of Kashmir and other issues related to the Kashmir.
Before leaving for New Delhi, the Mirwaiz, while talking to media persons at his residence, felicitated the Government of Pakistan and people of Pakistan on the Pakistan Day on his behalf and on behalf of the people of Kashmir and wished them well.
Expressing his gratitude to Pakistan for helping people of Kashmir in their just struggle by supporting them at the political, diplomatic and moral levels, the APHC Chairman said for the past 68 years, Pakistan’s efforts for resolving Kashmir issue and supporting APHC and Kashmiri peoples’ stand has remained a source of encouragement.
Terming the efforts of resumption of dialogue process between New Delhi and Islamabad as a welcome move for the political situation of the entire region, the Mirwaiz said APHC has always stood for the cordial ties between the two countries and has believed that instead of confrontation there should be coordination between the two countries to put the entire sub continent on the path of peace, progress and stability.
He said, however, for that to happen, steps needed to be taken for resolving the core issue of Kashmir between the two countries keeping the wishes and aspirations of the people in mind.
Terming the resolution of all issues including Kashmir as of basic importance, the APHC Chairman said participation of Kashmiris in any dialogue on Kashmir was a necessity for these talks to bear fruit and expressed hope that the political leadership of the two countries would take clear and non-ambiguous stand over it so that decks are cleared for the resolution of all issues including Kashmir.
