Students from to hold a sit-in against killing of their colleague

Awantipura, March 22: the authorities of IUST on Tuesday restrained students from holding a protest sit in in memory of their colleague who was shot dead as army open fire on protesters in Pulwama on Feburary 14.

19-year-old Danish Farooq Mir, an engineering student was killed along with a 22-year-old girl Shaista Hameed, who was pursuing post graduation through distance education mode.
As the university open on Tuesday after two months of winter break, students said they assembled in university lawns for a sit in as a mark of protest against the killing. However they said the chief proctor barged into the lawns along with university security staff and tried to disperse the student , not allowing the students to protest peacefully. “The proctor dared us of fire consequences if we protested,” they alleged.
Students said they have boycotted the classes and will protest against his killing. “No one has been booked so far in the killing and neither any case have been registered,” they said demanding action against the killing
