As the deadlock persists, Mehbooba flies to Delhi

Likely to meet PM

Srinagar, Mar 21 (KNS): Amid deadlock, Peoples Democratic party Chief Mehbooba mufti is leaving for New Delhi today afternoon and is likely to meet Prime minster Narendra Modi tomorrow. The visit comes in the backdrop of the renewed efforts from both parties to reach each other and end the deadlock that had reached to almost point of no return on Thursday when talks between Mehbooba and Amit Shah ended without yielding any results. Though the PDP has confirmed the visit of Mehbooba to New Delhi but did not say anything about the ‘proposed’ meeting between Prime Minster and Mehbooba. Party’s Chief spokesman and former Education Minister Nayeem Akhtar however, said that doors can’t be shut for nay negotiations dropping hints of fresh negotiations taking place between the two former allies.
“I don’t know whether Mehbooba would be meeting PM, but yes she is travelling to New Delhi.” Akhtar told KNS. He stressed that negotiations in polity are inevitable and doors can’t be shut to arrive consensus. The fresh developments are believed to be the outcome of a late night meeting of BJP top brass at New Delhi on Sunday. Sources told KNS that the meeting was chaired by BJP National General Secretary Ram Madav and was attended by BJP Sate President Sat Sharma, Former Deputy Chief Minster Dr. Nirmal Singh, and MP Jugul Kishor.
Earlier the PDP senior leader and MP, Muzafer Hussain Beigh had made it clear that PDP did not set any new conditions and it was likely that some misunderstandings and miscommunication between the two stake holders has crept in. He had stressed for opening channels of communication afresh and said both parties must keep public aware of the developments. (KNS)
