Landslides damaged four residential houses in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL, MARCH 19: Four houses were damaged due to landslides, triggered by heavy rain in forest area of Wangath Kangan in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said.

They said heavy rains during the past three days triggered landslide at village Waniarm Wangath in Ganderbal on Saturday morning damaged four houses. However, the inmates escaped unhurt, and shifted safer place, they said.

SDM Kangan, Gulam Ahmad said, we have deputed a team of officials to the area to ascertain the damage to the residential houses. The residential houses damaged in the land slide belong to Usman Khan S/O Rehmat Khan, Latief Bhat S/O Abdul Aziz Bhat, Abdul Satar Paswal S/O Abdullah Paswal in Waniarm Wangath.

Meteorological department has already warned avalanches in upper reaches in the Kashmir valley. It said people, particularly in the upper reaches, are advised not to venture in steep avalanche prone areas during next the days.
