Castigates Police for holding civilians responsible

Srinagar, March 19: A day after Bandipora Police filled charge sheet against six persons including slain Lashker-e-Toiba Commander Abu Qasim for killing top Police cop Altaf alias Altaf laptop, the outfit on Friday claimed that it was their commander Abu Qasim who gunned down the police officer.
The outfit has castigated police for holding civilians responsible for the death of the cop.
As per LeT statement to CNS, the outfit Chief Mehmood Shah said, “Police have suffered a serious setback by the death of Altaf Dar as a result it has started blaming some civilians for his death. It was Abu Qasim who killed him. We want to make it clear that locals like Showkat Hakeem, Mehrajuddin are not affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba. To avenge the death of the cop, police have been implicating innocent civilians,” the statement reads.
On Thursday Bandipora police filled charge-sheet against six persons including slain Lashker commander Abu Qasim allegedly involved in killing of top counter insurgent cop Assistant Sub Inspector Altaf.
The Charge sheet was filled before Chief Judicial Magistrate Bandipora against six suspects. Abu Qasim who was killed in an encounter in Kulgam last year also figure in the charge sheet at serial number 06 as Ab Rehman alias Abu Qasim S/O Ab Majeed R.O Bahawalpora Multan Pakistan.
The other accused include Showket Ahmad Hakeem, Mehraj ud din Sheer Gojri Alias Nanda, Manzoor Ahmd Parrey Mohammad Younis Khanday all residents of Hajin and Towseef Ahmad Sheikh resident of Quimoh Kulgam. The five accused are currently lodged in District Jail Baramulla
On October 07, militants killed one of the most active and competent counter-insurgency officers, Altaf Ahmad of Jammu and Kashmir police in Bandipora area of north Kashmir.
The killing of Altaf alias Laptop, a sub-inspector and head of a Special Investigation Team, police claims has ‘broken the backbone of counter-intelligence’ in Valley. He had played primary role in neutralizing Hizb-ul-Mujahideen network over the years and was point man for technical surveillance in the state.
Police had stated that LeT top commander Abu Qasim was involved in the killing of top cop. Qasim had a cash reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head and had been active in the Valley since 2009. He was killed in an encounter on December 25 in Kulgam, two months after the killing of the ASI.
