VHA organises anti-smoking sensitization program

Srinagar, March 09: J&K Voluntary Health Association on Wednesday organised a sensitization programme about the hazards of cigarette smoking and use of other tobacco products at Govt. Secondary School Pandrethan.

The sensitization program was organised in collaboration with Health and Education Department in Kashmir. on the occasion, various experts including Dr. Abdul Majid, HOD Community Medicine, Dr. Rubina Jabeen SKIMS, Dr. Shameem Ahmad Health Department spoke about the hazards of smoking.

At the end of program, students and staff members of the school took a formal pledge to eliminate tobacco products from their lives. During the event, J&K VHA team also distributed health related books on hazards of cigarette smoking in English and Urdu language to the staff and students for their guidance.

The Principal and staff members of the school express gratitude for having organised this useful programme in their school. Executive Director J&K VHA Ali Mohammad Mir IAS (Retd) assured them that such programmes will continue to be held periodically in various schools and Colleges of Kashmir Division.
