Srinagar, Feb 29, CNS: Anything is possible in the University of Kashmir. It had invited applications for the post of Assistant Librarians in April 2014, however instead of following proper procedure and rules and conducting interviews of aspirants, it surreptitiously upgraded the already employed Professional Assistants to the post of Assistant Librarians.
Insiders in University of Kashmir told CNS that nine persons who have been promoted from Professional Assistants to the post of Assistant Librarians do not qualify for the post as they do not possess the qualifications required for the same. “The authorities invited applications for the said post but did not conduct the interviews. They waited for more than a year and secretly issued an order of promotion in favour of nine persons. To conceal their misdeeds and to keep a space for the justification, the Assistant Registrar General Administration issued an order reading that: ‘the upgradation (promotion) of the incumbent employees is subject to the condition that they shall subsequently face the necessary Selection Committee,’ a faculty member from University told CNS adding that there exists no Selection Committee for the same purpose.
“It is a serious matter and it depicts how deserved aspirants are shown door. Governor Jammu and Kashmir being the Chancellor of the varsity should intervene and seek details from the authorities. The matter should be thoroughly probed in the interest of unemployed youth.” (CNS)
