Locals demand increase in quota

BANDIPORA:- Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department Bandipora has distributed 3604 quintals of food grains among consumers as per National Food Security Act, officials said on Monday.
The distribution/sale is going on smoothly in the district however resentment is seen among the people regarding the scale of the food grains that is being provided and people are demanding that the scale should be increased especially for nuclear families.
An official of CAPD said the sale and distribution of food grains in the district is constantly being monitored by the Deputy Commissioner and the Assistant Director CAPD in order to ensure the smooth and hassle free distribution of the food grains among the consumers as per NFSA.
However the consumer said the quantity of food grains is not enough for nuclear families, “no doubt the extended families are getting benefited duly but less quantity is being provided to families under NFSA,” they added.
Locals demanded that quantity be revised and should be increased for the greater benefit of the people keeping in view the food habits/culture of the state.
People urged Governor NN Vohra for intervention regarding the matter for the goodwill of the people of the state.
When contacted Assistant Director CAPD Bandipora, Shariq Iqbal,he said that the sale and distribution of the food grains is going on smoothly in the district and he himself is monitoring the sale and distribution in the district for the smooth implementation of the NFSA. He also said that the demands of the people have been put forward to the higher official’s.
