Manzoor Ahmed Lone son of late Fathe Muhammad of Vijpara Hajin appeared in Press Enclave Srinagar and accused Station House Officer Hajin of unnecessary ‘harassment.’ “SHO Hajin called me to his police station on the pretext of some verification where he detained me for two days on the behest of a local who owes me some money,” Lone told reporters.

He said that some respectable citizens from his village visited police station and resented ‘illegal’ action of SHO. “Station House Officer not only humiliated them and kicked them out from police station but also enered into lock up and beat me blue and black. He thrashed me mercilessly causing fracture to my arm and hand,” the victims said added that after sound beating he allowed me to go on the condition he will not let anybody know about the incident. He said that no FIR was lodged against him and yet for two day’s he and his family members suffered mental agony.

He alleged that SHO has been forcing him not to demand any money from the local on whose behest he picked me up. “I appeal Director General of Police to seek explanation from incumbent SHO Hajin. I am a labour and has four little daughters,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts SHO Hajin couldn’t be contacted. However,  DIG North Kashmir Gareeb Das told CNS that Police is an institution and institution can’t tolerate such acts. “Please ask this victim to visit my Baramulla office any time. I will inquire the matter and if allegations are proven correct, strict action will be taken against the accused officer,” he told CNS.  (Photograph attached)
