The PDP-BJP alliance that took reigns last year in March were caught in controversy from day one when Late Mufti Sayed as a Chief Minster praised Pakistan’s role in holding peaceful assembly elections. From praising Pakistan many more controversies continued to haunt coalition like beef eating, Pakistan Flags, growing indigenous militancy even an assault on a local legislator in assembly by BJP legislators too was debated high in the political circles in the state. The controversies keep on mounting till Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi in an unexpected manner snubbed Chief Minster Mufti Sayed during a much hyped BJP Rally in Srinagar. The public snubbing according to Analysts forced Mufti to have multidimensional contemplation on the coalition. There were statements and counter statements from both the partners against each other on many issues which forced top leadership to intervene when they feel things turning topsy-turvy.PDP had worked with Vajapyee led NDA and tried a lot to have open political discourse on Jammu and Kashmir but failed to achieve whatever they worked for PDP’s slogan of ‘conducive atmosphere’. Party from its birth raised slogans like Political solution of J&K, Conducive atmosphere for talks, healing touch etcetera but hardly have succeed in gaining any impression on ground. Mehbooba has again turned to old rhetoric of ‘Conducive Atmosphere’ and had made it clear to Ram Madhav that she will not form the government with BJP in the State if the central government does not create a “conducive atmosphere”. However question arises how Delhi can compromise on ensuring conducive atmosphere as any deal on AFSPA can prove counterproductive for BJP in other states. What can be the impact of parleys and talks when Kashmir’s are haunted and PDP is dubbed by Indian media as pro-Indian political party with separatist agenda? Since differences exist there in ideas, beliefs and principles in both the parties and BJP’s agenda differ with that of regional PDP so it will be hard for both to meet on a point or agenda which can favor Jammu and Kashmir or PDP .Time only can say how two parties poles apart in ideology can re-engage themselves on agenda of conducive atmosphere which is an impossibility keeping states political developments in view.
