DC Kulgam calls for creating employment opportunities for dignified life of needy, deserving women beneficiaries

As part of bi-monthly Relief Distribution Programme, J&K Yateem Foundation Kulgam Unit distributed relief amounting to over Rs 2.50 Lakh among 170 beneficiaries in Kulgam district. Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah distributed cash and kind relief among orphan, widows and destitute beneficiaries at a function organized at Baitul Hilal Chawalgam in the district.
Chairman J&K Yateem Foundation Mohammad Rafiq Lone, General Secretary Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Programme Executive Baitul Hilal/ District Representative Haji Mushtaq Ahmad Thokar and a large number of local donors and volunteers were present on the occasion.
In his address, Dr Abid Shah said the society needs to play its role for the welfare and rehabilitation of poor, needy and destitute. He said all human beings shall be accountable before Almighty on the Day of Judgement in accordance with their activities and positions held in this world. Dr Shah called upon government officials to encourage all credible non- governmental and voluntary organizations in their social service activities and supplement their noble and transparent efforts for the welfare and rehabilitation of underprivileged sections of community. Deputy Commissioner called for creating self employment opportunities for the needy women including widows to help them live independent dignified life. He complimented J&K Yateem Foundation for its sincere and transparent initiatives and activities.
On the occasion, the Jamia Masjid Baitul Hilal Chawalgam Kulgam Imam Tariq Jameel emphasized the need to work for the welfare and comfort of needy people which he said is part of Rights of People (Haqooqul Iba’ad).
Chairman Mohammad Rafiq Lone in his concluding remarks said JKYF has been successful only with the support and cooperation of common people in taking forward the welfare initiatives. He said the voluntary work undertaken by the Foundation was no favour to the needy and deserving. He said this is a part of humanistic, social and religious duties of the community to serve the needy to seek pleasure of Almighty Allah (SWT). He urged youth to come forward to shoulder the huge responsibilities for taking forward the mission of social service.
The beneficiaries included 117 widows, 37 poor families, 04 Baitul Hilal passouts, eight orphan girls and four patients from various areas of Kulgam district. On the occasion, four meritorious students of 10th and 12th class examinations were felicitated on the occasion.
Programme Executive, Press & PR Division Javaid Jawad, District Representative Shopian G.N. Shah, District Representative Srinagar M. Iqbal Begh, District Secretary JKYF Abdul Jabbar, senior volunteer Abdul Majeed Laway and scores of local citizens and volunteers, attended the function.
The function started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Shabir Ahmad. A student beneficiary Inayatullah Thakur presented the Na’at (praises for Prophet (PBUH).
