While terming the statement of BJP MP and Journalist M J Akbar that “freeing Kashmir will amount to surrendering the rights of Indian Muslims” as meaningless and unrealistic, All Parties Hurriyat Conference said that the Indian Muslims have themselves opted for this country while as Kashmir was an independent state before the partition and even after the Indian forced occupation, the people of this land have neither agreed to remain with this country nor has they accepted the sovereignty of this nation. Hurriyat spokesman said that holding the people of Jammu & Kashmir as hostage for the Indian Muslims is totally against the democratic values and the principles of justice and it also negate those promises which the Indian rulers and the world community has made with the people of Kashmir. In a Sunday’s press release, Hurriyat spokesman said that linking of the wishes and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people with the rights of the Indian Muslims is just a blackmailing and it does not has any constitutional or moral justifications. Holding a person hostage for the other is itself an injustice and when it is the issue of linking of the future of the Kashmiri people with the rights of the Indian Muslims, then the severity of this injustice increases. These are two different issues. The Indian Muslims have chosen India instead of Pakistan at the time of partition and was their decision right or wrong but its punishment cannot be given to the people of that state who were independent even before the partition and who are still waiting for their chance to decide their future. India is forcibly occupying this state just with the help of its military might otherwise the majority population of this region is at war with this illegal occupation. While terming the statement of BJP leader that “Kashmir is an inalienable part of India” as an Himalayan lie, Hurriyat spokesman Ayaz Akbar said that it cannot be presumed about a prominent journalist of India that he is ignorant of the history of Kashmir and he does not know that Kashmir is an internationally acknowledged disputed territory and the decision with regarding to its future is yet to be determined. But he knowingly said this unrealistic statement and being associated with the ruling party of India BJP, perhaps it was necessary as well as a compulsion for him. While terming the statement of M J Akbar that “Indian constitution does not discriminate on the basis of religion” as debatable issue, Hurriyat spokesman said that this claim is now just a hypothesis and there is no proof and no argument available in support of this claim on the ground. Indian secularism has proven to be a fraud and there seems nothing like that which can be reckoned as the good thing or which could be praised. While suggesting the BJP leader to have a thorough perusal of the Indian government constituted Justice Sacher Committee Report, Hurriyat spokesman said that it is a kind of written self confession of India that who they treat and behave with the minorities particularly Muslims of this country and how are they treated as the second class citizens in the society. Ayaz Akbar said that no one will stop Mr. M J Akbar to show his loyalty with his part but the present situation which has turned worse with the inception of the BJP government in India, can’t be defended or justified and no one can hide this fact that the level of intolerance in India has increased to an alarming level. Hurriyat spokesman advised Mr. M J Akbar and the other people of his tribe to change their obsolete ways of thinking in the changing global scenario and adopt a realistic approach so that you will not become a joke before the rational people. When the whole world is talking about freedom, democracy, rights and liberties, how come a nation be held hostage or the basic and birth rights are denied to them.
