Road Safety Week Bandipora Police interacts with transporters

Bandipora, January 15:  In wake of the Road safety week, Bandipora Police on Friday interacted with transporters of the district.

Senior Superintendent of police Bandipora Shabir Choudhary along with Dysp Hqr Pervaiz Ahmad Khan and Station House Officer Syed Gazanfur visited bus stand and interacted with drivers and conductors.

The officials listened to their grievances and also stressed on them to follow safety rules while on wheels.

 

Officials while highlighting that most of the casualties in accidents are because of the violation of safety rules and  asked the drivers of Buses and light motor vehicles to educate the passengers also about road safety rules to avoid untoward incidents.

He asked Drivers to avoid use of  cell phones while driving besides using seat belts and avoid rash driving.

The Road Safety Week is organised every year to create awareness among general public to improve the safety on road. The theme for this year’s Road Safety Week is, ‘Road Safety – Time for Action’.

Chowdhary said during this week People are encouraged to follow safety rules and educated about how to drive on road by organizing variety of programmes related to the road safety.

He said the aim of this campaign was to emphasize and accentuate people about the need of safe roads travel by applying just simple rules.

He said according to the information, it has been noted that approximately one lakh people are getting killed every year in the road accidents. “Such situations especially in India increase the importance and necessity of the road safety measures,” he added.

On the occasion DySp Parvaiz Ahmad Khan said students are given an opportunity to participate in the road safety week so that they not only educate themselves about the rules but will also educate others at home about safety rules.

Police officers said more awareness programmes will be organized to spread message about traffic rules, before enforcing the rule.
