Mehbooba in a fix over whether to form coalition with Congress or keep her father’s experiment going

January  12 :-Since Mehbooba Mufti continues to be yet in a fix whether to seek support from the Congress or maintain the status
quo political uncertainty grips sensitive and troubled Jammu and Kashmir.Though the state is under the spell of Governor’s rule still
there is political uncertainty over the nature of the formation of the Government..

After the Congress offered unconditional support to Mehbooba Mufti the  Chief Minister in waiting is torn between two ideas.Whether to join hands with the Congress or continue to keep the coalition with the BJP alive.She knows that her father had the courage
to conduct an experiment by joining hands with the BJP with which it had no ideological proximity.And if Mehbooba decides to join hands with the Congress as is demanded by a section of the PDP leaders it would be a pure violation of the experiment conducted by her
father.This way Mehboobva does not want to go against the arrangement framed by her father which she thinks would be an insult to the departed soul.

Both the National Conference and the Congress keep on mounting pressure on Mehbooba so that she forms the Government in a hurry.But
Mehbooba is born with tough sinews and is not prepared to take any hasty decision.

National Conference working president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  has asked PDP president Mehbooba Mufti to take a call on government formation without delay, with Jammu and Kashmir witnessing a “unique” political uncertainty. He also cautioned the Centre against “playing games” in this sensitive state.

“Mehbooba should take a call now when the mourning period is over. It is her grief over the death of Mufti Saheb, but the 1.25 crore people
of the state want the government to be in place as they have so many issues to be redressed. Either she should tell whether she is taking
over (as Chief Minister), or she should tell who is,”Omar  has stated.It becomes mandatory on her part as her party has given her the authority to take a final decision on government formation, he observed.

But there is no time limit for Mehbooba for the formation of the Government because o of the imposition of the Governor’s rule which can last upto six months.Hence  OmarAbdullah is simply trying to mount pressure so that Mehbooba commits a political blunder because by changing political arrangement she cannot be guaranteed of receiving liberal financial assistance from the central Government which is needed for proper economic development of the state.
