Bandipora, January 10: The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has failed to repair 59 kilometre Bandipora-Srinagar road giving tough time to people who commute over it.
The traders and transporters in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district have threatened protest against the BRO. The BRO has macadamized a portion of road just four months back in september but it lasted only for two months which clearly show the poor quality of material used in it.
Stating that the area is facing neglect, angry transporters and traders said that BRO has failed repair the damaged Bandipora –Srinagar road on warfooting to make it trafficable.there are big potholes on the road which make small vehicles movement almost impossible, said a local citizen.
“Authorities charge road tax from us. Then why do we have to face this nuisance? The roads have mostly caved in. And why the BRO is not acting? Are they making us fool after almost 70% people of the area participated in voting process,is this the outcome of that.’’ asked an angry resident.
BRO has taken up the maintenance of the road in the year 2011 and have initiated patch work even black topped about 18 Kilometres of the road but this macdam is no where visible on the ground just after 2 months after it was laid.
