Protesters urge UN to implement its resolution on Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 4, CNS: Pro freedom organization Kashmir Tehreek Khawateen (KTK) Monday organized a demonstration in Press Enclave here demanding an early resolution of the Kashmir issue. The female protesters led by party president Zamrooda Habib urged United Nations to implement its resolutions for the amicable solution of the vexed problem.

The peaceful protesters amid pro-Kashmir freedom slogans held placards in English and Urdu to highlight, what they called, illegal Indian occupation and human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The protestes wanted the United Nations Secretary General to take steps for “immediately implementing” the UN resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir. They also alleged that there were widespread human rights violations by the Indian security forces in Kashmir.

“We urge the Secretary General of the United Nations to encourage, facilitate and support efforts leading to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolutions, as well as exercise the mandate entrusted to him by Charter of the United Nations and under relevant international instruments to forthwith ensure the fundamental rights and freedoms of the oppressed Kashmiri people in particular their right to self-determination,”
