Srinagar, Jan 03 :While strongly condemning the midnight raids of police in Pulwama and Palhallan, vandalizing of dozens of houses, arrest of dozens of youths during the nocturnal raids and subjecting them to sever custodial torture in the police stations, Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani said that the police has become a terrorizing force for the common people in Kashmir and they are detaining and torturing youths in a brutal way.
While demanding immediate release of all the detained youths, Geelani cautioned that the terrorism of the police is not going to solve the issues but it will instead further complicate the situations and it is becoming the main reason for increase in the political uncertainty and instability in the state.
In a statement issued to KNS, Geelani expressed his deep concern and anguish that the police department is although meant to maintain peace and protect the lives and property of the common people but in Jammu & Kashmir this force is acting contrary to that and to appease the authorities in New Delhi and the local masters here, they are at war with their own people. Jammu & Kashmir police has become the private force of the pro-Indian politicians and they show no respect towards the constitution and judiciary. Geelani however while addressing the police said that the Kashmir dispute is not the issue of law and order but it is a human as well as political issue which can’t be solved with the help of the gun or force.
