I have to finish my work today or else my boss will be furious. I will be in an awful situation if I lose my job. With a persistent war-like situation, the certainty of my future keeps disturbing. What about the forthcoming elections? Who would win? Will the elections make any difference at all? What about the prevailing dry weather? Will we see a snowfall this year? Will Kashmir win freedom? Will troops be withdrawn from the state or will India prefer getting coffins from Kashmir? Will the Armed Forces Special Powers Act be reviewed? Will Kashmiris have to settle for a ‘self-rule’ or ‘autonomy’ after sacrificing more than 1 lakh lives? There is bloodshed on every street.

Times are bad for me. I should have saved some money for the rainy days. It is hard world to dwell in. There is filth and garbage at every sight.

worries-a

The famous Dal Lake is in a shockingly polluted state. Several species of plants and animals are getting extinct at an alarming pace. Who cares for the Hangul, the Kashmiri stag? The Chinars are dying a silent death. Who cares for the environment? Polythene bags are in vogue. Moral values do not exist. Honesty is scarce. I am worried about my studies, which I left midway. I am worried about my career. I want to live in a comfortable house. I want to buy a luxurious car. I want to establish a new business. Time is ticking fast. And, a lot is left for me to be done.

Aren’t all of us worried about these things or some of these in our lives? Family, career, money and relations are high on our worry list.

Experienced people advise against worrying. Sharing worries with others helps reduce tension, they view. But sharing something with others is not that easy. Although sharing your worries with others does not take anything away. That is why we find people boring around with their quota of worries. But when you need an attentive ear to lighten your burden, hardly anyone is visible.

However, I find it extremely difficult to share my worries with others. Otherwise, I would have shared almost everything, particularly with my friends and the dear ones. I never want to burden others with my lot of worries as everybody has his own bag of woes. There are people who cannot digest their food until they share, not their food, but their sack of worries.

Getting worried about anything and everything can mar your confidence. You can turn an absolute pessimist because of worries as you will think a hundred times before leaping into anything. You will feel worried about the repercussions even before venturing into anything.

Let me confess that I am a pessimist, because I worry and worry a lot. I can smell worries at a distance. So acute is the situation that sometimes I feel that I have done post-graduation in worries. But now I am worried as I am up for a Ph.D. Anyway, the worries will not stop me from doing my doctorate.

Folks, if you are not worried at all, I will give you a reason to worry. You can worry about the worries itself, because enjoying a life full of happiness and zest is not enjoying life in the real sense of the word. And enjoying life full of worries is living life king size.
