Announces Rs 3 Crore additional funds for Shalteng-Palpora Bridge
Orders construction of pedestrian subway at GPO Bund side
Srinagar, Dec 17, CNS: Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Gardens & Parks, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today conducted a thorough tour of Batamaloo constituency and announced Rs 3 Crore additional funds during the current fiscal for facilitating the completion of the Shalteng-Palpora Bridge sanctioned under NABARD.
The Minister visited the site of the bridge under execution through JKPCC Ltd taken up under NABARD and asked MD JKPPC to restart the construction work of the bridge and ensure its completion by July 2016. The additional funds to the extent of Rs 3 Crore for this purpose shall be provided by the government.The Minister said and asked R&B officers to take up the work of development of approach roads on either side of the said bridge.
Mr Bukhari was accompanied by MLA Batmaloo Mr. Noor Mohammad Shiekh, MLC and PDP district president Srinagar Mr. Khurshid Alam, deputy commissioner Srinagar, MD JKPCC, commissioner SMC, SSP Srinagar, Director CAPD, Chief Engineers PHE, SE PDD, SE R&B, deputy director health, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar and various sectoral officers. The Zonal president Amirakadal Mohammad Ashraf Dar also accompanied the Minister.
Earlier in order to take stock of the progress of the work on bridge connecting Lal Chowk Bund side with Convent Rajbagh the Minister asked the Irrigation and Flood Control officers to provide NOC to JKPPC Ltd by tomorrow positively for construction of pedestrian subway to be constructed on the approach road GPO side. The subway will facilitate smooth movement of pedestrian on the Bund.
Later during his visit to Gund Hasi Bath higher secondary school the Minister asked R&B officers to dismantle an old single story structure in order to augment the school accommodation with the construction of a four story building block at the entry point of the school. The new building block will also have lavatory and washroom facilities.
During an interaction with a public delegation at Gund Hasi Bath, the Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner to examine the demand of utilization of compensatory amount of Rs 6.50 Crores of Kahcharaie land for purchase of alternate piece of land to be utilized for the construction of a new higher secondary school and play ground.
The R&B officers were given a deadline for the completion of first two floors of trauma hospital at Lawaypora by February 20th.
On a public demand at Lawaypora, the SE Power Development Department was asked to examine the demand of augmentation of receiving station Narbal to improve the power supply in the area.
The Minister also visited Government Boys Secondary School Lawaypora and asked the R&B officers to prepare a DPR for reconstruction of the old building blocks in view of the shortage of accommodation and dilapidated condition of the structures. Director Floriculture was asked to immediately take up the maintenance of the lawn of the said school.
At Mujgund, the Minister asked the R&B officer to assess the condition of the NTPHC and, if found unsafe for use, the structure shall be got dismantled and the new PHC shall be constructed on the alternative piece of land measuring one and a half Kanal already donated by the locals for this purpose. The SE R&B was asked to prepare estimates simultaneously for the construction of the new proposed building and in the alternate the director heath services was asked to arrange rented accommodation for the functioning of the said PHC by the time the new building is constructed.
Addressing a demand for introduction of a smart classroom in Boys Higher Secondary Mujgund, the Minister asked the JK Bank Ltd authorities to examine the demand and initiate process in this regard.
The Minister ordered R&B officers to construct two culverts near fishermen colony Mujgund for convenience and comfort of the general public of the area.
The Minister asked the R&B officers to improve the riding surface of the link roads at Takanwari, Tengpora, Umr Colony, Mustafaabd Colony and Bhakshipora without any further delay. Commissioner SMC was asked to complete the tendered works of the Maloora outfall drainage scheme presently under execution within one month.
At HMT traffic intersection, the Minister asked Brigadier Das, Chief Engineer Beacon who was present on spot to develop and smoothen the ruffled patch of road near petrol pump and besides removing the impediments coming in the alignment of the road.
SMC commissioner was asked to prepare a comprehensive DPR for main trunk drain along-with sub mains and laterals for Umar Abad colony at HMT. The Minister directed the Irrigation and flood control officers to plug the breaches along Shalteng Bund to safeguard the habitations and public property.
The DC Srinagar and R&B officers were asked to initiate the process of acquisition of land after ascertaining its title at Gousia morh Housing Colony for the free movement of the vehicular traffic.
