Srinagar, Dec 4 (KNS): Two militants and an army soldier were killed Fridayin an encounter with the security forces in Handwara, North Kashmir, while another army man was injured, army said.
Defense spokesman Colonel NN Joshi in a statement said that two militants, an army man were killed in an encounter in Boban Watsar forest in Handwara.
He said that another army man was injured in the encounter.
The spokesman said the Army and police launched an operation in the area on receiving information about the presence of some militants.
“As the forces closed in, they drew fire from the militants resulting in the death of one soldier NK Satish Kumar and injury to another soldier. In the ensuing gun battle, the Army killed two militants,” he said, adding, besides other warlike stores, two AK series of weapons, one UBGL and five radio sets have been recovered in the operation. “The operation is underway,” the spokesman said
