Welcomes Pak Army Chief’s statement, Rejects Sushma Swaraj’s remarks
Srinagar, Dec 01: Hailing the statement of Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharrif, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said only resolution to Kashmir issue is the key to peaceful relations between India and Pakistan.”Not only for better Indo-Pak relations but the solution to Kashmir dispute is also vital for the establishment of peace and tranquility in the South West Asia,” Shah said in a statement to KNS.
He appreciated the interest shown by Pakistani political, social, religious, military and opposition leadership towards the Kashmir issue saying the war like situation between the two neighbouring nations can only be avoided by resolving the vexed issue through implementation of UN resolutions or trilateral talks.”It is the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is proving a great hindrance in way of friendly relations between India and Pakistan.” he said.
Shah also backed the General Raheel Sharrif’s remarks that Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of partition and said the Islamic Republic always showed its sincerity towards resolving Kashmir issue but India is continuously finding excuses for way out in this regard.
Terming the statement of Sushma Swaraj as “unrealistic”, Shah said Kashmir dispute is pending on UN agenda and to raise it at international forums is fully justified.”It is a fact that so-called elections are conducted in state under the shadow of gun and Sushma Swaraj must understand that elections and referendum are different issues. We reject such kind of elections which can never be substitute to referendum.
“Whenever there were elections in the occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the whole resistance leadership was kept behind bars, youth arrested and the state turned into a virtual jail for which the international media is witness.”Shah said if Indian rulers are so much excited about the participation of Kashmiris in so-called election process and are sure of Kashmiris choosing India, they should, without any worry, conduct referendum in the state.”Whatever the results would be acceptable to all the stakeholders and as such the issue, which consumes major portion of budget (for defense), will get resolved, once for all,” Shah said.
