Vigilance raids LAWDA office

‘Two former officials in dock’

Srinagar, Nov 16, CNS:  After the complaints regarding the corruption and fee hand given to the violators  to resort to illegal constructions in beauty tourist hub Dal lake, the Vigilance Organization Monday raided Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) office located at Miskeenbagh Dargah and seized all the official records.

“We had been receiving continuous complaints about the officials encouraging people to resort to illegal constructions in lieu of money. We raided the office of LAWDA and seized all the official records. After the scrutiny of these records we will book all the officials involved in these malpractices,” said a Vigilance Officer to CNS.

Reliable sources told CNS that the previous two officials from LAWDA have indulged in massive loot and have gabbed enormous sum of money from violators after allowing them to resort to illegal constructions.

A Vigilance official on condition of anonymity told CNS that a lower rung class 4th employee from LAWDA has accumulated enormous wealth with the help of two former DySP’s and all the records of the said employee have been seized as well. “We can tell you with authority that former two DySP’s of Lawda have resorted to loot and have permitted people to resorted to illegal construction after receiving huge sums of money from them,” he said adding that soon these corrupt officials will be arrested and exposed.

Sources added that previous officials from LAWDA have amassed enormous wealth from the people whom they allowed to resort to illegal constructions. “These officials think they are the rulers and nobody can touch them. Despite court prohibiting constructions in the Dal and its peripheries, these officials violated all the norms and merely to fill up their coffers they allowed people to construct hotels and houses to disfigure the beauty of the picturesque Dal,” they said.
