Srinagar, Nov 7 (KNS): While mentioning Kashmir’s International cricketer, Parvez Rasool in his speech in the rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday praised the Kashmir Willow, saying that the Indian cricket team’s batsmen hit sixes with bats made of willow that grows in Valley.
“When Yuvraj (Singh), (Virendra) Sehwag and (Mahendra Singh (Dhoni) hit sixes with their bats, those bats are made of Kashmir willow,” Modi said.
Modi addressed a rally of thousands of people at Sher-I-Kashmir Cricket Stadium here this forenoon.
“I feel very happy when Parvez Rasool plays. The state which has Parvez Rasool, why shouldn’t there be an international match? And that day should come soon when international cricket resumes here – in this stadium,” Modi said, but did not mention any timeframe when international cricket will resume on Kashmir soil. (
