Arrestee involved in a murder case: Police
Baramulla, Nov 05: The arrest of a local sparked violent clashes in Palhalan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. Eyewitnesses told CNS that a police party raided a workshop and arrested its owner Parvez Ahmed Gojri. The arrest of Gojri sparked clashes while large number of youth took to road and attacked government forces with stones. Police resorted to tear-smoke shelling to disperse the protesting youth. The clashes between the police and protesters disrupted the vehicular movement in the area while all the shops and business establishments got shut.
During the hours long clashes many protesters and policemen were injured. The protesters while demanding the immediate release of Parvez Ahmed Gojri alleged that it has become a routine for police to arrest ‘innocent’ people. “Whenever there is peace, it is being disturbed by police. The police resort to unnecessary arrests,” they alleged.
Refuting the allegations a police official told CNS that the accused is involved in the murder of a cop and he was evading arrest since 2013. “A police driver was killed in 2013 when stone-pelters attacked a vehicle.
