Bandipora, Oct 28: Expressing concern over the dwindling role of youth in the socio-economic reconstruction of the state, Minster for Education Naem Akther on Wednesday stresses youth to review the old lost tradition of self-sufficiency and self-reliance by involving themselves in socio-economic development.
He said that the youth have fallen prey to ‘indolence’ which is cancerous to society and the state.
Speaking during Annual Day function organised by GHSS Bandipora, He said that the contemporary society is taking education in different way which is not only affecting an individual but a society too is getting harmed.
“Education and competence are two sides of same coin, our society have separated education from competence” Minster for Education Naeam Akther said while addressing a gathering of Teachers, Parents and students here during event.
He said that the role of youth in the restriction of state economically and socially is zero which is a matter of concern.
“Most of the youths are either protesting or unnecessarily following a trend while leaving their tradition of self-sufficiency which is harming their personal stature,” Naeem said.
Referring to Sayid Ali Hamdani (RA), he said that Kashmir has a tradition of self-reliance and self-sufficiency which not only groomed individual, families but groomed a unique ‘society of Kashmir’ which earlier was a model”.
“We have now millions of youth but with zero contribution they are victims of indolence “He said.
“if any framer had a piece of land, he used to enjoy on side while putting out state workers in the field for work which in turn has bad impact of society ”He said, adding “youth have still time to revive the tradition of self-sufficiency and self-reliance”
Stating that his department is committed to develop a student into a ‘complete personality’, He said that every College, Higher Secondary and other institutes will witness overall development so that a student can be groomed into a ‘complete personality’ who prove to be assets of the society.
He said that evening classes will be started in Jammu and Srinagar colleges while making optimum use of infrastructural resources.
Women’s college Srinagar and Jammu will be turned into nursing collages during night; we will start evening classes in these colleges while following the concept of optimum use of infrastructure, Naeem Said.
He announces introduction of Information Technology and commerce stream in the Girls Higher Secondary from next session besides assures establishment of Language lab in the institute.
Speaking on the women upliftment Naeam Akther termed the Beti Bacho slogan a slogan of haplessness.
He suggested Beta Bachov slogan instead of Beti Bacho questioning why a girls should be protected? “Girls have to overcome why they shall face victimisation or injustice? Let them overcome, let they act boldly and bravely, Let they take challenges” Name said while taking oath form the female students.
Later Minster appreciated the GHS School management and students for their performance during the event and urged school management to turn the institute into business model by involving students in different socio-economic activities.
He said that students should be involved in making Bandipora Polythene free. “I hope students will make paper bags and distributed it in market to make the town polythene free”
He asked them to make paper bags in school and form a community to conduct the campaign by involving different sections of the society. He also appealed the gathering to use paper made carry bags.
“Every support will be provided to students from making paper bags in school and administration will also participate so that a voice can g from school students to make Bandipora polythene free ”He said.
MLA Bandipora Usman Majid also spoke on the occasion and assured full support and cooperation for the upliftment of education system.
Je spokes at length about the education system vis-à-vis society and assured Minster and officers for full support wherever they feel the need.
Earlier Principal GHSS Abdul Rehman presented detailed annual plan Fasil Nayeem teacher Physics welcomed guests and Nuzhat Fatima teacher Chemistry who led the proceeding of the programme later thanked the participants.
Students who had performed well in different fields of education were awarded by Minster after conclusion of function.
