On his Srinagar visit, PM may repeat Vajpayee’s move of 2003
Srinagar, Oct 22: On his much publicized visit to Jammu and Kashmir on November 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may likely do what then BJP Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did in 2003.
Sources close KNS said that besides announcing a mega financial package for the development of Jammu and Kashmir, Modi may likely announce a political package for the state. The political package, as per sources, will include announcement of the resumption of comprehensive dialogue process on Kashmir by inviting Kashmiri separatists for dialogue with New Delhi and will extend a hand of friendship to Pakistan by seeking resumption of stalled dialogue process between the two nations.
“Inviting Hurriyat for talks with New Delhi will be a major component of PM’s political package he is announcing in Srinagar on November 7, besides he will extend a hand of friendship to Pakistan by expressing his willingness for resuming stalled dialogue process between the two nations,” sources told KNS.
In April 18, 2003, Vajpayee had extended a hand of friendship to Pakistan at a rally in Srinagar. Interestingly, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a chief minister at that time too.
This time also as Mufti as CM will be a host to the Prime Minister Modi when the big political and financial packages for the state will be announced.
Both chief minister Sayeed and former chief minister Omar Abdullah besides other mainstream and separatist leaders are in favour of initiating a dialogue process with separatists with Omar only a day before saying that New Delhi have to engage those who don’t want Kashmir’s solution within the ambit of Indian constitution.
