Violation of Master Plan

Srinagar, Oct 17: High Court has asked government to attach the property raised unauthorisedly in and around Nageen lake in violation of Master Plan.
A division bench of High Court headed by Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar asked the LAWDA to attach structures/buildings raised in violation of master plan, directions of this court or beyond the permission or if any granted by BOCA (LAWDA).
Earlier, Vigilance Commissioners informed court after constructions raised unauthorizedly in recent past in violation of master plan and subsequent court orders.
The court asked LAWDA to attach the property by next date of hearing. It asked Superintendent of Police (East) and SHOs of all concerned police stations to extend cooperation to the authority to ensure forthwith implementation of the directions.
The property that would be attached include a hut constructed at BAhraar, guest house on the banks of Dal, a restaurant at Nageen, a dining hall attached to a houseboat, commercial complex at Ishber Nishat and construction of a double storied structure by directorate of ISM at Dachigam.
Court also asked LAWDA to take necessary steps to restore a Ghat at Nawa Bagh which has been illegally converted into parking place by earth filling and a houseboat illegally moored at the place.
Court further asked the authorities of LAWDA that in the event of unauthorized construction being demolished, the construction material should be immediately removed from the spot so that it is not reused for reconstruction or raising any other construction.
Bench also asked LAWDA to identify 200 metres around the lake area by installing identifying marks like signboards, cement/iron polls so that general public is made aware of extent of NO Construction Zone around the lake.
