20,000 Brown Trout Fingerlings Released to Boost Fish Production in Bandipora’s Trout Streams

Bandipora 5 Nov: The Department of Fisheries release 20,000 brown trout fingerlings in different trout streams of Bandipora district to enhance fish production and promote eco-tourism in the region.

The stocking was carried out in the Madhumati, Arin, and Kishenganga trout streams under the supervision of senior officers and representatives of the local administration.

DDC Arin, Ghulam Mohiuddin Rather, released the fingerlings in the Arin trout stream, while DDC Bonakoot, Abdul Gani Wani, led the activity in the Madhumati trout stream. Similarly, SDM Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmed, and DSP Gurez, Ghulam Rasool Malik, conducted the stocking in the Kishenganga river, accompanied by the concerned staff of the Fisheries Department.

All fisheries officials and beat staff actively participated in the stocking drive to ensure the successful release and distribution of fish seed in their respective areas.

Officials said that this initiative will enhance trout fish production in the natural streams and contribute to the overall growth of the fisheries sector in Bandipora.

The department aims to improve livelihood opportunities for local fishermen and promote sustainable fisheries development through such regular stocking programmes.
