20 days after her recovery, woman’s sample infected with Omicron

Srinagar, Jan 11: First case of Omicron was confirmed in Kashmir Valley as one pregnant woman from Uri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district tested positive for the variant on Tuesday, officials said.

A senior health official in Baramulla told Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that a sample of a pregnant woman from Uri was taken on 20 December last year.

“She was already COVID positive when her sample was taken, which was later confirmed to be an Omicron variant. However the patient recovered and is today fine at her home,” he said.

The official said that the sample result came after 20 days and the woman had already recovered from the virus.

He further said that a team of doctors has been rushed to the woman's home and samples of her family members and neighbors will be done on priority. (KDC)
