11th District Pulwama Tennis Ball Cricket Championship Begins at Sports Stadium Pulwama

PULWAMA, JUNE 19: The 11th District Pulwama Tennis Ball Cricket Championship 2026–27 commenced on Friday at the Sports Stadium Pulwama amidst great enthusiasm and sporting spirit. The championship is being organized by the District Pulwama Tennis Ball Cricket Association under the aegis of the J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association and in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The event is being held under the theme “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan”, reinforcing the message of a drug-free and healthy society through sports.

The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, sports officials, coaches, players, and sports enthusiasts from across the district. Mohammad Akram, Manager, J&K Sports Council, Sports Stadium Pulwama, attended as the Chief Guest, while Farooq Ahmad Sarloo, General Secretary, J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association, was the Special Guest. Guests of Honour included Irfan Sarkar, Mehraj Wani, Saleem Malik, and Rahul Mir, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers in promoting cricket and encouraging youth participation at the grassroots level.

The championship has attracted more than 500 participants, including boys and girls competing in the Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories. The impressive participation reflects the growing popularity of tennis ball cricket in the district and the enthusiasm of young athletes to excel in the sport.

Speaking on the occasion, Faizan Qayoom, Organising Secretary, welcomed all teams, officials, and guests and expressed gratitude to the J&K Sports Council, J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association, coaches, volunteers, and supporters for their cooperation. He stated that the championship aims not only to identify talented players but also to foster discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a spirit of healthy competition among the youth.

The championship will continue over the coming days with exciting matches across various categories, providing a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent and promote sports culture in Pulwama.
