110 Bn CRPF Marks 36th Raising Day with Fortnight-Long Celebrations at Lethpora

Pampore, April 9: The 110 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated its 36th Raising Day with great enthusiasm and grandeur at its Battalion Headquarters in Lethpora, Pampore, after a fortnight of vibrant events and activities.

The battalion, which was raised on April 8, 1991, commemorates its Raising Day every year on this date. This year, the celebrations were made more memorable by organising a fortnight-long series of programmes, aimed at fostering camaraderie, boosting morale, and strengthening the bond among personnel and their families.

As part of the celebrations, several sports competitions were held, including badminton (singles and doubles), table tennis (singles and doubles), chess, volleyball, cricket, tug of war, arm wrestling, and other recreational activities. The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from the battalion personnel.

A major attraction of the celebrations was a grand fair organised on April 3, which drew large participation and created a festive atmosphere within the campus. Narvir Singh, DIG, South Kashmir Operation Range, attended the event as the Chief Guest and played a significant role in making the occasion a success.

During the fair, a variety of stalls and games were set up for the entertainment of personnel and their family members. A lucky draw was also conducted, in which winners were awarded attractive prizes including laptops, mobile phones, and other valuable items.

The main Raising Day function was held on April 8, beginning in the early hours with a solemn tribute to the martyrs. Commandant B. R. Meena paid homage at the Martyrs’ Memorial, honouring the brave personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

Following this, the Commandant was accorded a Guard of Honour at the Quarter Guard of the Battalion Headquarters. He also inspected the guard and extended warm greetings to all personnel and their family members on the occasion of the battalion’s 36th Raising Day. He further highlighted the achievements, dedication, and operational contributions of the battalion over the years.

In the evening, a colourful cultural programme was organised, which witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests and senior officers. Among those present were Anupam Srivastava, DIG, Kashmir Operation Sector (KOS) and Brig. Rohit Nautiyal, DIG, RTC Lethpora, besides officers from various units, officials from allied departments, invited guests, and media personnel.

The cultural evening was formally inaugurated by Anupam Srivastava and his spouse through the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

The programme featured a rich display of cultural performances by battalion personnel, including Punjabi Bhangra, Assamese Bihu, and several other traditional and entertaining items. The participants showcased remarkable energy and talent, earning repeated applause from the audience and adding vibrancy to the celebration.

At the conclusion of the event, the winners and runners-up of the various competitions held during the fortnight were felicitated with prizes. The best stall of the fair was also recognised for its outstanding presentation.

On the occasion, Commandant B. R. Meena presented a memento to the Chief Guest and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their gracious presence and support in making the event a memorable one.

The celebrations concluded with a grand feast, where officers, personnel, guests, and family members came together to enjoy the occasion in a spirit of unity and festivity.
