Shopian, Dec 18, CNS: Government Forces on Monday launched a Cordon and Search operation in multiple villages of South Kashmir's Shopian district.
The searches were conducted under ‘Operation All Out’ that has so far given tremendous success to Indian combined Forces in Kashmir.
An official said that Cordon and Search operations hadbeen launched in different villages including Chatripora, Vehil, Nowgam, Panduchan, Kapran, Rey Kapran, Dangam and Wangam.
The belt put under siege is known as the hot bed for militancy.
Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Batmuran Wanpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian village after Government Forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation there.
Reports said that people made announcements from loud speakers asking locals to come out from the houses as they believed that two to three militants were trapped in the village.
Locals informed that clashes erupted while Government Forces used tear-smoke shells to disperse the protesters.
“We heard that two to three militants are present in the village. But one can’t say with authority,” said a local.
A police official said that search operation was launched in the area after Forces received inputs about the presence of militants. (CNS)
