Bandipora, Nov 20: Acting tough against the drug peddlers and drug menace, the Bandipora police on Monday said they have arrested three drug peddlers in Aloosa area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Among the arrested drug peddlers include a notorious drug peddler who has been earlier detained under Public Safety Act three times earlier for drug peddling. Police officials said on specific information, Police Post Aloosa laid naka near Paribal and apprehended three notorious drug peddlers along with 250grams of Charas and 390 strips of banned drugs.
They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Dhobi @Ketta son of Ghulam Mohi ud Din Dhobi resident of Kaloosa, Mohd Ramzan Sofi @Darzi son of Abdul Khaliq Sofi resident of Kaloosa and Rameez Rashid Bhat @ Hefa son of Abdul Rashid Bhat.
Officials said Bandipora police has constituted a special team in order to act tough against drug menace in the area headed by Station house officer Bandipora Syed Gazanfur and DySp.Hqrs, Mir Murtaza Hussain and under overall supervision of SSP Bandipora, Sheikh Zulfikar Azad.
He said the arrested persons are involved in exploiting the young generation in north Kashmir parts by making them dependent on drugs for illegal monetary gains. He said they are involved in selling drugs and charas among the youth in Bandipora area.
A case FIR No 159/2017 u/S 8/20/22 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Bandipora against these accused and further investigation has been taken up. It is pertinent to mention that Mushtaq Ahmed Dhobi @ Ketta has earlier been arrested in 09 cases under NDPS Act and had also been detained thrice under Public Safety Act.
