Bandipora, September 20: Family of a lady who died in District Hospital today, staged a massive protest alleging negligence of doctors.
The family members of 80-year old Rehti Begum wife of Mohammad Shaban of Kema Bandipora was brought in district hospital Bandipora today at 3:00 pm with after she complained of chest pain. Family members said a doctor on duty examined her only once despite repeated requests and didn't bother to attend the patient while she was restless on the bed.
They said that for more than four times, attendants approached the doctor on duty and informed her about the worsening condition of patient but refused to visit patient again. "Our patient died only due to carelessness of the doctors and we demand stern action against them," they demanded.
Family members alleged that the Medical Superintendent of district hospital was not available in the hospital while no other officer of hospital management was seen there. Officials said the Medicinal Superintendent was in Srinagar to attend a meeting at Srinagar.
Soon after the incident, Medical Superintendent DH Bandipora constituted a 6 member team to ascertain the facts about the death of the elderly lady. The team headed by Consultant Medicine Dr Sajjad Parvaiz shall submit the report within 48 hours.
Chief Medical Officer Bandipora Dr Bilkees Mir confirmed to Kashmir Convener that she along with MS was in a meeting with Commissioner Secretary Health and assured that she will look into the matter on priority.
