SRINAGAR | MAR 17 (PTK): In a brief exchange of fire between militants and security forces militants managed to escape in the wee hours in Pulwama district of south Kashmir today on Friday.

Reports said that security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Batnoor village of Shopian district at around 2am following information about presence of militants in the area.

However the exchange of fire started between the two sides lasted for some 15 minutes. While the militants managed to give a slip to the security forces, taking advantage of the darkness.

Official said that the operation has now been called off. “No one was hurt in the encounter”, he said. (PTK)
