Sgr-Jmu highway closed for fourth consecutive day

Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNS): The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country continued to remain closed for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday while the weather conditions improved in the Valley following the four days of wet spell.
The higher reaches of the Valley experienced fresh snowfall in the last four days while the plains experienced rainfall.
The Meteorological (MeT) department had said that the weather conditions would improve fromSaturday.
Meanwhile, the 300 km long highway remained closed for the fourth consecutive day today. The highway was closed due to the slippery conditions of the roads in Ramban, triggered following the rainfall.
The officials in the traffic department told KNS that the highway remained closed today as well as the shooting stones continued in Ramban. “The road clearance work would be started soon once the shooting stones will stop. The vehicles are stranded today as well and the stranded vehicles will be allowed first to ply,” the officials said.
Notably, the highway was closed by the authorities on Tuesday evening due to the slippery conditions of roads caused by the rainfall.
Meanwhile, after witnessing four days of wet spell, the Valley experienced pleasant weather during the day due to the occasional sunshine. (KNS)
