Srinagar, Feb 28, CNS: A special squad of senior officers from District administration conducted a surprise visit to different coaching centres being run in the Civil Lines areas of Srinagar city and took stock of the facilities being provided to the students.
The inspection team that was flanked by police party from police Station Saddar was led by Tehsildar South Nuzhat Qureshi, Naib Tehsildar Samiullah Naqashbandi and other officials. The team inspected various coaching centres located in Parraypora Baghat and adjacent areas of Uptown Srinagar.
During the inspection, Tehsildar South directed the authorities of coaching centres to adhere to the norms strictly and ensure better facilities to students. She said any violation of the fixed criterion shall be dealt sternly and such inspections shall continue in future as well.
Tehsildar South Nuzhat Qadri told CNS that the inspection was carried out in order to address the complaints of students and parents regarding exploitations by many such centres. “The team interviewed the students just outside the coaching centres to get an on the spot feedback about the quality of education and various facilities available in these centres”, she said.
In order to cross check the availability of various facilities, as claimed by the management of the centres through advertisements, the team inspected the classrooms and administration. “Barring few, majority of the coaching centres lacked sanitation facilities and besides the coaching classes were seen jam packed with students. It was also found that some of these coaching centres have been charging hefty amounts from the students. We warned the proprietors of these centres and if they didn’t follow the norms we will initiate action against them,” she said. (CNS)
