DC Bandipora reviews drug de-addiction measures

 

BANDIPORA, FEBURARY 15: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora today organized an officers meeting to review preventive measures, strategies being carried out to curb menace of drug addiction.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Senior officers from Police, Revenue, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture and other concerned Departments attended the meeting.

During the meeting, various suggestions were put forth and discussed threadbare to control drug menace and to enhance drug de-addiction measures in the district.

It was decided that Tehsil level committees will be constituted to identify vulnerable areas and persons involved in this menace. Officials of Revenue, Police and Health Departments were directed to make surprise inspections to all the medical shops to keep a check on substance abuse.

The meeting also discussed capacity building programmes, which would be conducted in educational institutions and other places for raising awareness about ill effects of drug addiction.

On the occasion, the DC called for strict action against bung cultivators in the district and asked Agriculture and Horticulture officers to ensure alternate crop cultivation on land under bung cultivation.
