Srinagar | Jan 11 (PTK): A meeting of district, tehsil and Halqa heads of Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) was held at the party’s headquarters at Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal today which was presided over by the party chief and Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Senior AAC leaders, office bearers, district presidents, tehsil presidents from all the districts of the state, in particular from the districts of Kashmir valley including Srinagar, Budgam, Islamabad, Kulgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Shopian, Ganderbal and Pulwama attended the meeting and held deliberations on political situation in the state as well as the ongoing resistance movement while exchanging ideas on how to make the movement strong.
In his presidential address, the Mirwaiz while denouncing the government tactics of trying to sabotage the ongoing resistance movement by committing worst atrocities, arbitrary arrests and harassment of the people besides indulging in gross human rights violations said that the PDP-BJP coalition was furthering the agenda of the extremist rightwing parties of India by adopting all undemocratic and inhuman measures to change the disputed nature of Jammu Kashmir and its Muslim-majority identity with a demographic change.
He said these forces were over one pretext or the other are trying to take steps for changing both J&K’s disputed nature as well as its demography. First it raked up the issue of setting up of a Sainik Colony, then a separate township for Kashmiri Pandits, then implementation of a discriminatory industrial policy, then issuance of domicile certificates to West Pakistan refugees and now implementing SARFEASI Act to settle non-state subjects in Jammu Kashmir.
In a statement issued to PTK Mirwaiz said when people of Kashmir raised voice to protest against these nefarious designs of RSS ideology led BJP government, our youth including minor children were blinded with the brutal use of pellet guns and blood of innocents was spilled for raising their voice against the agenda of changing the demography of this Muslim-majority state.
He said, however, these tactics would not yield any results as Kashmiris, during the 2016 uprising had shown a strong resolve to carry forward their struggle for right to self-determination and a firm commitment towards the ongoing resistance movement.
The Mirwaiz said the extremist elements had since 1947 always tried to push the Kashmir issue on the backburner and dilute its historical status and disputed character which they continue to do till this date. From Srinagar to New Delhi efforts were being made to shift focus from Kashmir issue by portraying it away from its historical and ethical background.
He said AAC had always stood for safeguarding the rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir and for saving its identity and in the present circumstance, the duty of its members had doubled because of a situation where Kashmiris are facing a constant threat of the Indian extremist forces. Mirwaiz urged AAC leaders, office bearers and workers to beware of the nefarious designs of these forces.
During the meeting, it was resolved that the AAC would extend all possible help to the unified resistance leadership and make all the programmes of leadership a success. The members also reiterated to safeguard the pious sacrifices being offered by the people for their right to self-determination and to take the mission of the martyrs to the logical conclusion.
The meeting condemned the attack on Muslims in Kathua by the extremist elements saying that these elements from a particular community were targeting the Muslims under a well-devised plan. The attackers were being protected by communal forces while the government was busy talking about secularism and overseeing the execution and annihilation of Muslims.
On the occasion, the Mirwaiz also released the annual calendar for year 2017 published by the Anjuman-e-Awqaf Jamia Masjid, Srinagar. (PTK
