A dozen houses gutted, one dead
Srinagar | Nov 21 (PTK): A massive fire engulfed half- a-dozen houses in the residential area of Buchwara Dalgate in Srinagar, J&K. Fire tenders were quick to douse the flames out.
Police said flames from one house in Buchwara in Dalgate area of Srinagar quickly spread to neighbouring houses in the densely populated area.
A fire started out from one the houses and spread to other. A gas cylinder blast is said to have caused the massive fire.
“The government should do something for the victims of this tragedy,” a local resident, Fayaz Ahmad said.
A dead body was also recovered from the debris of one of the gutted residential houses. The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Ramzan of Tral, who was an asthma patient.
Fire fighters faced difficulty to reach inside the house as no proper road was there in the locality.
However former chief minister Omar Abdullah wrote on twitter that “My heart goes out to the residents of these homes, I hope the government steps in with some assistance”.
