(Beerwah)BUDGAM June 29: The residents of the Beerwah Sub Division here are up in arms against the authorities for failing to provide them uninterrupted drinking water supply.
Several villages of the sub-Division Beerwah are reeling under acute scarcity of drinking water from the past several days.
We are facing shortage of water in this blessed month and the authorities are doing nothing.
We are being forced to come on roads, alleged residents from the Beerwah area.
“The authorities have failed to provide us any relief in the month of Ramzan,” said a resident of Beerwah town, Javaid Ahmad Banday.
Due to using of hosepipes by some residents,others are facing hardships, he said.
We appeals to authorities that take action against outside-water users, residents said.
“Why we face problems? If some residents are using drinking water for kitchen gardens or any other purpose, aggrieved residents asked.
PHE Department should take stern action against them for using hosepipes, they maintained.
Here, the villages Hardu sourish,Larkipora, Alapora, Bongund and adjoining villages are also facing water shortage due to ongoing widening process of Aripathan-Khag road by R&B department.
When contacted Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) PHE Sub-Division Beerwah Mushtaq Ahmad, he said “we started drive against hosepipe users in which about 40 pipes has been burnt on main road of Beerwah town”.
“We burned about 40 pipes in three days, which improved water supply, “he said.The drive will remain continue, he assured.
“We are trying to provide maximum water supply to all , but people should also cooperate. They should not waste water or use hosepipes. It creates problem in the distribution, he added.
