Srinagar, May 3, CNS: To facilitate road widening and beautification of Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan in Jammu, authorities Tuesday demolished many structures adjacent to the grand mosque. The demolition drive was supervised by Waqf Board Jammu, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Revenue Department and Jammu Police.
Joint Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Mr Jamwal told CNS that historical Jamia Masjid at Talab Khatikan is under construction at an estimated cost of Rs 27.90 crore. “For its beautification and the road widening, we had already chalked out a plan under which several concrete structures were to be dismantled. The owners of these structures that we raised to ground on Tuesdayhad already been compensated and they were using dilly dally tactics to avoid action,” he said.
He added that besides a milk shop and a dhaba, authorities dismantled a building adjacent to a hotel in Talab Khatikan. (CNS)
