CRPF man attacked with a knife

Anantnag, Nov 10, CNS: A youth was arrested after he allegedly attacked a Railway Protection Force (RPF) man with a sharp edged weapon and tried to snatch his service rifle in a halted train at Anantnag Railway Station in South Kashmir on Tuesday.

The incident occurred when the train on way to Banihal from Baramulla halted at Railway Station Anantnag. “Few RPF personnel escorting the train alighted from it while the lone security man inside the train was suddenly attacked with a sharp edged carving knife by a youth.  Before stabbing him, the youth sprayed chili powder in his eyes.The security man after receiving serious wounds in his head collapsed and the assailant was overpowered by other security men near the railway track when he tried to fled away with the service rifle of the injured security man,” a top Railway official told CNS on condition of anonymity.

The injured RPF man was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment while the arrested youth who was identified by police as Tariq Ahmed Bhat son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat a resident of Asthan Mohalla Redwani was shifted to RPF camp for questioning.

A police official while confirming the incident said that during questioning the youth reveled that he was offered Rs 5 lakh by some people for killing and snatching the service rifle of any security person. “The sharp edged knife has been seized from him,” he said and identified the injured security man as Tinku Pachhawa from 3rd Battalion RPF, a resident of Agra Uttar Pradesh.
